We all went to downtown Shanghai today with the GB Sailing Team.   Shanghai is about an hour's drive if the traffic is reasonable; if not it can take twice as long.  Fortunately, today was a good day.   We arrived in the Peoples' Square, a convenient position for our trip.  After a altercation between the driver and a traffic warden we eventually disembarked.

We travelled from there by underground (Line 2) and arrived outside the Orient Pearl.  This is the tallest building in the Orient (see photo).  After lunch we bought tickets and made our way up 360 floors to the first level.

After looking at the view of Shanghai - as little hazy at this level, we took a further lift to the next 'bubble' another couple of hundred floors above.   More oohs and aahs later we took the lift down.

We then travelled on a rather spectacular underground tram through a tunnel with various lighting effects - the photo does not do this justice.   A walk then down Shanghai's busy but traffic free main road took us back to the Peoples' Park and the 'bus home.   In the evening we watched a dvd of Harry Potter before retiring early.

It has now been confirmed that all the Finals will take place tomorrow, Wednesday.  The weather is improving but the course is still too windy.   We will have to be up at 5:45 tomorrow have breakfast and get to the course to fit it what was two days racing into just one day.
