Due to the threat of the cyclone rapidly approaching this area we had both the 200m and the 500m divisioning races today. Everyone paddled really well and their times are below for you. Remember, they are paddling really heavy and wide boats so don't be too critical please. | | 500 metre time | 200 metre time | | Heather Osmond | 04:30.10 | 01:47.34 | | Jade Russ | 04:38.62 | 01:54.31 | | Katie Smith | 04:54.56 | 01:58.09 | | Christopher Mills | 04:17.95 | 01:45.20 | | Francis Morran | 04:18.97 | 01:45.81 | | Richard Wood | 04:22.01 | 01:48.86 |
We were very pleased to see the parents this morning. It had been a rush of communications from the night before when we knew about the programme changes. However, they managed to find their way here and were in the stands to cheer the paddlers on. The paddlers were able to join the parents in the stands after their races so a lot of catching up of the news from both groups took place. There are a few more photos below including one that shows just how attentive the Chinese volunteers are. They really look after the paddlers and nothing is too much work for them. Finally, still no sign of the typhoon. The picture below is especially for Paul and Angie. There is a large pool along the front of the hotel that is full of Koi Carp. There are in great shoals of vivid colours and get really excited when they are fed as you can see. |
